Wake Up With Greg Vaughn Hitting A Bomb Off Randy Johnson In NLDS Game 1 (1998)
Hard to win a game when your offense only gives you one run. And more often than not, that was all that Randy Johnson would need, but not on this night when Greg Vaughn took that ass DEEP in the 8th inning of Game 1 of the 1998 NLDS. The Padres dismissed the Astros in four games in this best of five series, and Johnson actually took the L in Game 4, too, after he allowed just one earned run in 6 innings, a home run to Jim Leyritz. Johnson went 0-2 in this series after posting a 1.93 ERA in 14 innings with 17 strikeouts. The Padres went on to the World Series before getting their dicks kicked in by the Yankees, who swept them in four games. Vaughn hit two more bombs in that World Series, but those were his only two hits in the series in 17 plate appearances.
